Church Shopping

Finding a church is an interesting experience. This is the third church that Cole and I have had to find together, but it's really not any easier than it was the previous two times.

We are very blessed to live in an area with tons of great churches around. However, that makes the decision even harder. We know people who attend many of the churches in the area, and they, of course, all love their churches. So, recommendations don't really help all that much.

The most difficult thing about choosing a church is that you basically have to base your decision on the Sunday morning worship service. Sometimes that seems to me like choosing a spouse based on his or her hairstyle. It's ridiculous.

So, what are we supposed to do? We have pretty much narrowed our search down to two churches. Both are the same denomination and have solid teaching and theology. Both have ways in which we can get involved. Both have people we know and love in the congregations. It seems like we can't really go wrong, right?

In my heart I know that both of these churches will be good for us and allow us to grow. BUT, I just hate having to choose. In case you don't know me very well, I'm usually painfully indecisive. Especially when it comes to big decisions like this. We will just continue to pray that God leads us in the right direction.

We want to commit to a church soon because we're ready to dive in. We're ready to be purposeful about building a community in Birmingham. We know we'll find the right place to be.
