Kitchen Update

The kitchen is coming along. The finished tearing everything out after the first day. Then the electrical and plumbing teams came in to get everything in working order. It was a little stressful deciding where I wanted all the switches and outlets to be, but I made it through. The walls were torn down and moved to the new locations, and a new part of a wall was built to house the new pantry. The drywall is up, and now it's time for the cabinets to be installed! Here are some pictures of the progress so far.

After everything demolished and the framing of the new walls was done:

Where our sink and dishwasher used to be...yummy:
Drywall is up, floor is down, cabinets in boxes are in:
As I type, the cabinets are coming out of the boxes and are getting installed. The template for the countertop will be done tomorrow (I think), and we could possibly have it installed late next week. Woohoo! It's so fun to see it finally coming together!

Kitchen Day 1.5

Yes, we're actually on Day 8 of the kitchen reno, but I just got my battery charged so I could upload pictures from Day 1.5. These were taken at lunch time of Day 1.

Looking in from the front door:

Where the oven used to be:
The lovely plastic and blue tape used to contain the dust:

I'll post some more recent pictures soon. They laid down the new floor yesterday and did drywall and such earlier this week. The cabinets were delivered today, but sadly they are in boxes so I can't see them. Boo. They should be put in tomorrow or Friday though.
We may actually have a new kitchen one day!

Poll Time!

I added a poll to the blog on the right. Vote and let me know what you the Gresham babies are!

The nursery so far

I'm so excited about the progress being made in the kitchen. Unfortunately my camera died, and I can't find my charger so I can't take in-progress pictures. My mom is bringing her charger with her to Birmingham tomorrow, so I'll charge it up and get to work on taking pictures for y'all.

So instead of posting pictures of the torn up kitchen, I'll post pictures of the beginnings of the nursery. We got the bedding in last Monday, and the cribs came in two days later. I thought Cole wouldn't be excited about putting them together that night, be he was sport and put both of them together in a little over an hour!

Working on the first one:

One down, one to go:
Working on number two:Ta da!!! (Can you see the excitement on Cole's face??)

The bedding and the rug are from Pottery Barn Kids. Now we just need window treatments of some sort, a changing table, and a glider. We're almost ready for the two newest Greshams to arrive!

It's finally here!!

Demo Day is here! The crew has already started tearing out our old, yucky kitchen. Last night I was a little (a lot) emotional as we were moving EVERYTHING out of our kitchen and as I was realizing that I would no longer have a refrigerator or washer and dryer at my house, but it will all be worth it in a few weeks.

Here's what the kitchen looks like now:

I'll try to take pictures throughout the process to share with everyone. We are basically tearing everything out and replacing it all. New cabinets, countertops, appliances, backsplash, etc. Oh, and the green spots on the wall are test spots for the paint color. Our whole house is yellow, which sounds weird, but actually isn't bad. It's a nice yellow. However, I'm getting a little tired of the same color everywhere. Since they're going to have to repaint anyway, I thought we should get crazy and change the color. We're going with the top color in case you're wondering. It's Georgian Green by Benjamin Moore. Hopefully it won't be a big mistake! :)

I'll keep you posted!
