Ellen and Cole are 1!

Let's just pretend that I posted this July 13, the day they actually turned one. :)

We had their party on Saturday, July 16, and it was perfect.

I tried to keep it really easy and low-key. I didn't want to get stressed out about everything having to be perfect. And it worked. I was able to enjoy myself and had a great time.

I ordered the invitations, birthday banner, and cupcake toppers from Babycakes Art & Design on etsy.com. The seller was so nice to work with. Everything was shipped super fast and was exactly what I envisioned. In case you haven't looked around, it's extremely difficult to find cute birthday invitations for a boy/girl twin party. I didn't really want a "theme" party (mostly because I couldn't think of a good one that would work for both Ellen and Cole), so that made finding invitations even more difficult.

Once I found these invitations from Babycakes, though, I decided on a loose theme of cupcakes. We had a banner that said "Happy Birthday Ellen & Cole" and various cupcake toppers - "Happy Birthday Ellen," "Happy Birthday Cole," 1, a silhouette of a little boy holding a cupcake, a silhouette of a little girl holding a cupcake. They were perfect.

We got cupcakes from a bakery in town, bought some ice cream, and called it a party.

We tried to get a picture of both of them on the couch looking cute in their birthday outfits.

That's as good as we could do before Cole crawled off the couch. (The fall scared him and all of us, but he was fine.)

Martha Ann: Ummm, dude, what's that on your head?

Ellen really wanted to grab the candle.

Cole was NOT impressed with the cupcake.

Clearly, Ellen wasn't either.

They looked pretty darn cute in their hats, though, if I do say so myself. (I got them from diapers.com.)

By the end of the afternoon, Cole was just worn out. :)

It was a fabulous first birthday party. The twins behaved beautifully, and William slept through it all.

We were so happy that all of our family could be there to celebrate with us (minus Uncle Rob).

I can't believe I have two one-year-olds.

Happy belated birthday to those sweet babies! I love that you were able to get them to wear hats - when we would put M's hat on her she would dissolve into a fit of tears. :)

You are doing such a good job, Anna - I am impressed with your multitasking mama skills every single time you post!

What a great party for two very cute little babies! Though do you get to start calling them toddlers after they cross the one-year mark? :-)

Congratulations on one heck of a year!
