Oh, William. I hope you will not look back at pictures of your first year and feel slighted. I hope you won't think we didn't love you as much as the twins. Or that you were forgotten.
Because, I promise, you are most definitely not forgotten around here.
You are typically the first one up in the mornings. (Although I wish you would sleep a tad later - 6:30ish is still too early for me - I do enjoy the alone time with you.) Your whole face lights up when I walk in your room to get you out of bed. You sleep wrapped in a Woombie, so you look like a little GloWorm. It's adorable.
You watch me make your bottles and usually like to play with a piece of paper or whatever other random thing I can find in the kitchen to keep you occupied.
You get so excited when it's finally time for your bottle! Sometimes it's hard to keep you from putting it in your mouth before we get to the couch. After your bottle, your good mood generally continues. You are most content in your jumpy thing in the mornings.
But you like to know that I'm still close by. You get very upset when I leave the room. Sometimes I can trick you, though, and leave while you're not looking. :)
When Ellen and Cole get up, they walk right over to you and "talk" to you. I assume y'all are talking about your dreams or scheming about how to
drive me crazy entertain me that day. Ellen especially loves talking to you throughout the day. They both like to "help" me change your diaper, feed you, and just take care of you in general. Ellen has also started helping me burp you.
You love watching them play throughout the day, and now they are able to bring you toys. Sometimes they're a little sneaky and take a toy from you and replace it with something not nearly as fun. You are generally not amused by this. You love playing with their sippy cups and know how it works.
You used to be most happy in the Bumbo seat, especially with the tray on it, but lately you have gotten so good at sitting up. We put the Boppy pillow behind you just in case you tip over. I assume you like being on the floor best because it's easiest to interact with Cole and Ellen. You do NOT like the playmat. At all. You hate being on your tummy, but I make you do it so you'll hopefully start crawling soon. You have started rocking on your hands and knees lately, so I don't think it's too far away. You're not a big fan of being on your back on the playmat either.
Napping is the only issue causing discord in our relationship. Over the last 4 or 5 weeks you have started napping longer stretches in the mornings, about 1.5-2 hours. I really, really, really want you to nap for about 2 hours in the afternoon, but you almost never do that. Instead, you want to nap for about 45 minutes to an hour.
Even though napping isn't your best thing, you are a champ at night. You consistently sleep 11-12 hours every night. Some days you are so tired you go to bed at 6, but most nights your bed time is 7ish. You do pretty well when we push you past 7, but you are clearly tired. You rub your eyes and randomly cry for about 5 seconds at a time every 10 minutes or so.
You are taking four 8-ounce bottles every day. Plus, you eat at least two containers of baby food (Stage 2). So far, you like every kind of food we've given you. You like to try to take food from Ellen and Cole's trays at lunch, but you have not seemed interested in puffs.
Overall, you are a delight! You have been an incredible addition to our family. We can't wait until you are truly interacting with Cole and Ellen and can show even more of your cute little personality.
