Monday was easy; I practically jumped out of bed at 5 AM. It was the first day, and I was excited. The workout was great. I was sore after, of course, but I felt great about myself. I accomplished a TON (more than I usually do in a whole day) before 9 that morning. I unloaded the dishwasher, started a load of laundry, and made dinner for Monday night all while entertaining William and feeding the twins.
Be very impressed.
BUT, Tuesday did not go so well. It actually did not go at all.
The short story is I overslept.
The long story is long and explains that it wasn't exactly my fault. ;) I have a terrible history with alarm clocks. We have a mutual hatred for one another. It never rings loud enough to wake me. And if it does, it makes me so mad that I must turn it off. This time I woke up and hit snooze - one of my favorite things to do in the morning.
(*It is important to note here that I have not used an alarm clock in the morning for 2 years. And I have NEVER used one at 5 in the morning.)
This was my first time using the alarm clock on my iPhone, and I didn't realize that there is a 9 minute snooze. Yikes! So, I thought I would get to close my eyes for 5 more minutes, but I got 9. Then I hit snooze again. Double yikes. I thought it would be 5:10 when I got up, but it was 5:19.
Too late. It was too late to go. I was mad. But there was nothing I could do.
There is no morning class on Wednesday, so Thursday was my next shot.
The exact same thing happened. I was livid that morning and in a bad mood all day long.
Thursday night, Cole and I devised a plan. He would set his alarm then kick me out of bed.
It worked, and we've been doing that ever since. (Yes, he does get extra brownie points for technically waking up at 5 AM so that I can work out.)
I really, really like CrossFit so far. It's a little difficult to explain to people what the workouts are like because they are different every day. Suffice it to say, they are difficult but doable. I've done lots of squats, situps, pushups (I try, anyway), and weightlifting. And I've done lots of other random things (rope climbs, rowing, etc.). One day I'll do a post about some actual workouts we've done so you can get an idea of what I do so early in the morning.
I think I would prefer not to go at 5 in the morning, but that's really the only time that works for my life right now. It makes me feel so much better about myself AND I get to talk to adults. About something other than babies. It's pure heaven...at 5 AM.
